my telnet window is uncommunicative!

Post by Daphne »

So I'm quite new to the game, but I love it! However, my telnet connection has remained blank when I've gone to play today. Really my only question is "Is this just me or are others having trouble?" Once I know whether or not it's just my computer giving me trouble, I can take other steps.
Thanks.

Thank you for your prompt commentaries! And thanks devex for jumping on the issue so speedily. I am sure (sort of) that I can make it until the game is up and running again.

I've been using telnet for 20 years now. It is limited, and it is
sensitive.

That being said, it also can detect link failures much faster than
anything out there.

If you are not getting echoes on telnet, drop link, and reconnect
to re-establish the connection. Everything will refresh, and
you will get a bit of a speed boost (on UNIX or Linux) due to
memory being cleared.

hm. interesting, thanks gregori.
As to sonja's bit there, I use telnet because I never expected to get sucked in at all. *G* We all know the story on that one...however, telnet, for all it's glitches and grumps, is still the most readily available tool available to a total technological dunce like myself.
Thanks to all.
