So you've received your first quest card, and cant wait to start throwing items together for that 100qp. Congratulations! But there's a few steps you need to take to ensure you're doing things the right way when it comes to getting, and spending these quest points!

This room finder is a database of rooms in the mud compiled from mapping data on a client like Zmud. Whenever you do a search for a word it will pull up every room in the mud with that word in the room name. For example - searching grass will bring up grasslands, and Old Man O'maleys Grass. Using more than one word can sometimes cause the search engine to not work so using one good keyword is usually the best idea. The quest finder on this site works the same way.

So basically I have my 4 items. I'm going to c loc itemname on each of them and scry any mobs carrying them. At this point, I should have a Room Name for each of my items. I'll plug these into the room finder, and will now have four areas to search for my items in. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you're having trouble with an item.

Now that you've done a few cards, here's a quick cheatsheet for questing items:

--->EQS under NON-Created Mud EQs (Items found off on mobs)

Armor

  • q itemname protection 15, then do it again with the given number.
  • q itemname weight
  • q itemname extra anti-evil/glow/hum/invis etc.
  • q itemname hit 5
  • q itemname dam 5
  • q itemname ac -25 (Don't worry about this until Advent+)
  • q itemname str 3 (Stacking strength on your gear can be done last)
  • q itemname dex 3

Note: You will also need to quest all of your stats to 25. Quest Str and Dex first, then Int for skills followed by con and wisdom

Item Affects Checklist (aff)

  • Sanct
  • Fly
  • Protection
  • Invis
  • Passdoor
  • Seeinvis
  • Infravision
  • Sneak

When it comes to questing item affects, Sanct and protection are going to be most important, followed closely by fly invis and passdoor, but you really do need them all. Sidenote: It has been noted that most mobs in the game trip you. When you get tripped, you will lose 2 to 3 rounds of being able to input IMPORTANT commands to the game such as flee, c rem curse and so on. As such, it would be prudent to secure sanctuary AND fly spell first, so that you DO NOT TRIP to death and also be able to fly up and down rooms. The list above has been arranged according to its priorities; top ones are the most important and the bottom ones the least.

Questing Weapons

  • q itemname min 10, then do it again with the allowed number
  • q itemname max 20, then do it again with the allowed number
  • q itemname spell flaming for pk, or vampiric for bashers (dark for blind, the rest are self-explanatory. Curse spell can't be quested)
  • q itemname power 50, then do it again with the allowed maximum number
  • q itemname weight
  • q itemname hit 5
  • q itemname dam 5
  • q itemname str 3
  • q itemname ac -25
  • q itemname EXTRA anti-good/anti-evil/anti-neutral/invis/hum/glow (enter once to add, enter again to remove this flag)
  • q itemname spell fireshield (or any shields) to remove the "blind affect" when wielding weapons.

Note: Make sure your weapons are enchanted with crumbling parchments (from Gandalf). If they are not or you're not sure come see me immediately (Justin?)

Questing CREATED EQ

This includes all gear created using Qbuy.

q itemname hit 10 q itemname dam 10 q ac -45-50

You won't be needing any of the special issue gear for quite some time. At status 24 you will have just enough qps available to get ac -45 onto a piece of special issue as long as the only other quested stats are hit and dam. It is therefore my recommendation that you DO NOT QUEST ANYTHING OTHER THAN HIT AND DAMROLL ONTO SPECIAL ISSUE GEAR!! You will not have enough qps to do ac if you do so. The only special issue items you will need are: Boots, Chest, Mask

Note on questing your gear I'd like to point out that you have two options when questing your gear;

  • 1)Do all Damroll first. This is great for bashing, however, I strongly recommend doing hitroll first for pk.
  • 2)Do all Hitroll first. This is what I recommend, doing all hitroll first will give you a huge edge in pk

So that's it for the quest guide, Bashing guide is up next followed by PK guide so be on the lookout for those. Happy questing!
