Upon reaching the desert, hunt "dervish skeleton". You cant hunt short skeleton at all cos that is not the keyname for the mob. If you scryed dervish skeleton, you should see "The corpse of a dervish sits in the sand here, slowly rotting" in the room called "A Barren Oasis".
